Lucille Annette Contri Renzo

Lucille Annette (Contri) Renzo passed away peacefully on September 5, 2016 in Newport Beach, California.

Lucille was born April 12, 1924 in Des Moines, Iowa to Dominic and Maria (Gianni) Contri.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa; her sister, Retha Sharp; and brother, Larry Contri; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Renzo; her parents; brothers, Amelio, Almo and Eldon Contri; sisters, Dina Farlow, Gemma Contri, Alda Fini, and her beloved twin sister, Lorraine Martin; and stepson, Anthony Renzo; and a host of extended family and friends.

Lucille was raised in Des Moines, Iowa where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. She began working at Northwestern Bell at age 18, while taking classes at Drake University. She worked for the telephone company (later Pacific Bell) for 45 years. She moved to Huntington Beach, CA with her husband, Frank where they raised their daughter, Lisa and resided there for 48 years.

An avid bird watcher, Lucille was always at peace viewing them on her walks along the Bolsa Chica Wetlands near her home. She believed the best way to raise your spirit was through helping others. Her faith, inner strength, and independent spirit was and will continue to be a guide for her family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines from 5 to 7 p.m. beginning with a rosary. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, September 19 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1627 Grand Avenue in West Des Moines, IA with burial at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.
