Dolores Grovier

Dolores Grovier, 82, was born on November 23, 1933 in Osage, Iowa to John and Ida (Pint) Novonty.

She graduated from Osage High School in 1952. Dolores continued her education at Drake University receiving a BA in music.

Dolores taught school for a few years in Spirit Lake, Iowa and Mitchellville, Iowa. The highlight of her teaching career was at Smouse and Ruby Van Meter Schools, where she taught music to disabled students.

She married Andrew E. Dickson in 1954 and Jack Grovier on January 2, 1996. She is survived by her sisters; Nancy (Bob) Hess of Kansas City, MO, Sandy (Larry) Klosterman of Davenport, IA and Sheila (Berle) of Menomee Falls, WI; step daughter, Susan Mills; step granddaughters Melissa and Jennifer Mills; great grandchildren, Jacqulyn Diaz, James Diaz, Jack Walker and JeNelle Whitfield.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave, Des Moines. There will be a visitation one hour prior to service. Please join the family following the service for a luncheon at the funeral home. Private burial will occur at a later date.
