A Life Remembered….
Audrey Marlene Burt, 80, passed from this life on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, surrounded by her family at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.
Audrey was born on February 14, 1936 in Story County, Iowa to Virgil and Olita Swim. The family lived in Polk City and Audrey graduated from Polk City High in 1954, and then worked as a secretary at John Deere Des Moines Works. On May 31st, 1956 Audrey was united in marriage to Jack L. Burt and to this union, two children were born. During their beautiful 60 year marriage, Audrey and Jack shared many fond memories of family and dear friends in the Polk City Community. Audrey was a homemaker while raising her family. She loved caring for her grandchildren, and having family in her home. She also enjoyed her many friends and loved spending time with them talking and drinking coffee. Audrey was a loving, caring and giving mother, grandmother and friend; she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband Jack Burt, their children, Kevin and Sue Burt of Elkhart and Jon and Cindy Johnson of Polk City: her grandchildren Jim (Jannene), Case, MaKayla and Eddy Burt, Ben and Nate Johnson; and great grandson Isaac James Burt. Aunt Nelda Robertson of Illinois, Brother and Sister in laws; Lois Burt of West Des Moines, Sue Burt of Polk City, Gene (Erma) Burt of Ankeny, Kathryn Burt of Polk City, Darryl Johnson of Polk City, Barb Carlson of Johnston, Roger (Sharon) Burt of Polk City, and good friend Willie Torsky of Polk City.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Olita Swim and brother Jere Swim, her In laws; Paul and Francis Burt, Pauline and Bob Bowersox, Don Burt, Donna and Tyke Geisler, Glen Burt, Ellen Johnson and Bob Carlson.
