My Memories of Mildred go back to just a few years, in the late 1950's, ending when our family moved from Des Moines in mid-June of 1959. My brother Dick and I were friends with David and Harry, who lived just a couple of houses up the alley from us. The Marquises lived on Maple, and we lived on Walker Street. Both our families lived between E. 9th and E. 11th Streets. Mildred was always so welcoming to us Monk kids, and partly because of that, the Marquis home felt like a "home away from home" to us. We are sorry to hear of her passing, and yet we are glad to have known her a little bit during our pre-teen years. She made a good and lasting impression on us.

To Harry and the Marquis family. I am sorry to hear of Mildred's passing. I remember many New Year Eve's when Roy and Mildred played cards with my parents Phil and Martha. There was always a house full of laughter when they were there.

Dear Marquis Family- We were so blessed to enjoy Mildred's friendship in our Oliver Family for over 60 years. We were so glad to spend time with her at her birthday. We will miss her clever wit, her wonderful tales of great times in Crosslake and Des Moines. We will think of her often with love as we agate hunt. Bless all the laughs and fun she was such a big part of.
Love from Up North-

I am very sorry to hear of Mildred's passing. We kept in touch by mail and email. She amazed me by being so upbeat about life with her sight problems. Cora Belle Hansen(Cox) who was the mother of my wife, Mary, was Goldie Cox's sister. Bill Frye
