Marianna Hope Johnson

Marianna Hope Johnson, age 85, left her earthly body to be present with her loving Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 8, 2016 at Norwalk Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Marianna was born November 13, 1930, in Des Moines to Keith and Frances Sherod. She married the love of her life, Don L. Johnson, in 1948 and they spent 35 wonderful years together serving the Lord and raising their three children.

1 Corinthians 13:13, “And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love.” A life well spent is a life that spends itself on love. Marianna spent most of her life loving and serving her Lord Jesus, family and friends. Even through many of life’s struggles, the joy of the Lord was always her strength. She loved to sing praises to the Lord and had the voice of an angel. She leaves a rich spiritual inheritance to her family and was an example of unconditional love to all who knew her.

Marianna is survived by her brother, Richard Sherod, her adoring children, Terrie (Larry) Wishman, David (Jill) Johnson, and Peggy (Craig) Hutchinson as well as her nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Don L. Johnson and her brothers Robert and Donald Sherod.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Friday, August 12th at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. After a luncheon for family and friends, there will be a celebration of life graveside service at 1:30 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery, 801 19th St., West Des Moines.
