David Lyle Rachuy

On August 8, 2016, David Lyle Rachuy was called home after a short illness. David was born on September 3, 1967 in Waterloo, IA to Shirley and Lyle Rachuy. In 1972, he moved with his family to Storm Lake, IA where he graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1985 and later from Vatterott College with a degree in computer Aided Drafting. He worked for Windsor Windows and Doors, and most recently with Casey’s General Stores in Ankeny, IA.
David was very passionate for the game of slow pitch softball, where he was both a player and manager and looked forward to competing in the Iowa Games each and every year. David also enjoyed watching Nascar and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and New Orleans Saints. David enjoyed working with his hands and was the handyman for both family and friends. Foremost, David was a devoted husband and father, and a friend to everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Cathyrn; sons, Dakota and Trevor; daughter, Margret; mother, Shirley; brother, Scott (Kathy); sister, Karla Bond; and many friends and relatives. David was preceded in death by his father, Lyle; and his sister, Sandra.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines with a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 13 at 10:30 a.m. at The Basilica of St. John, 1915 University Ave. in Des Moines. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

This isn't suppose to happen . Not suppose to loose a son-in law ..Dave was always so full of energy and always had a big smile to cheer up everyone around him . When I needed help with anything he was there , actually he was there for everybody.. .I am always going to miss him, but he will also always be with me. That's why god gave us memories. Really just want to say I loved that young man a whole lot. ... Will be seeing him again a bit later.
