William “Bill” Dawson, Sr., 40, tragically passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016. He was born February 21, 1976 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Bill laid asphalt for a living and his expertise shined through since he had started at a very young age. Some of his interests included, racing stock cars at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, and being outdoors fishing, camping, and grilling with family and friends. He was an avid Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. Bill loved to dedicate his time to others where he later coached baseball for Eastside Sox for many years. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and always put others before himself. Above all, he cherished his time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda; children, Ashley Dawson and Billy “Bub” (Carley Toomey) Dawson; grandchildren, Eli, Derek, and Aubrey; parents, Kenneth and Linda Dawson; siblings, Kim Dawson, Tracey (Joseph) Lange; best friend, Shawn Branchcomb, Sr.; cousin, Dan Dawson; and many other loving friends and family.

Bill was preceded in death by his grandparents, Kenneth and Martha Dawson and Margaret and Donald Johnson; and cousin, Jack Archer, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016, also at the funeral home.
