Halford M. Kooker

Halford Milton Kooker was called home by his Heavenly Father at the age of 100 years on Saturday, August 6, 2016. He was born February 18, 1916 in Terril, Iowa to Selim and Rosa (Van Horn) Kooker. Halford was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was well-known for his genuine kindness, quick wit, and sense of humor. He married his childhood friend, Mamie Pauline Vermie in 1937 on New Year’s Eve. Their children are Donna Mae, Gene Milton, and Judy Louise. His lifelong vocation was plumbing. He retired from Beckman Bros. in 1975 as manager. Hal was a lifelong Cubs fan and was a member of Rising Sun Church of Christ.
Hal is survived by his children, nine grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. The family wishes to thank Parkridge Specialty Care for their loving attention. After cremation, there will be a private burial at Rising Sun Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Pleasant Hill Lions Club. Condolences may be left at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

I met your wonderful father while visiting my parents at Parkridge. He always had a smile and we would "discuss" our Cubs and how well they were doing. I will sure miss that smile. Sending you my sympathy for your loss.
