Mabel Holland Justice was born September 28, 1918 in Elkhart, Iowa to Katie Kaltenheuser and John Holland. Mabel married Daniel Alton Justice September 20, 1941 in Bethany, Missouri. Mabel was preceded in death by her loving husband, her mother and father; her brothers, Everett Holland and Claude Holland; and sister, Hazel Ballard.
Mabel and Alton lived in Bondurant all their married life where they raised their children, Katy Haley of West Des Moines; and Kent (Connie) Justice, of Runnells. Mabel was blessed with five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was a loving stay-at-home mother until the death of her husband, when she then went to work at Communications Data Services until her retirement.
Mabel was a member of the Bondurant Christian Church and Past President’s of the Women’s Legion Auxiliary. She was active in Senior Citizens Rolling Agers and the local women’s sewing group. She loved playing cards with her friends, and always looked forward to her morning coffees. Mabel was a volunteer at the Bondurant grade school where every Thursday during the school year she would go and help the teachers with whatever needed done.
Mabel wanted to thank all of her friends for their kindness in driving her to appointments and meetings after she was no longer able to drive. Their friendship and kindness made it possible for her to stay active in those things she loved.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2007 at the Bondurant Christian Church, 306 Grant Street South, Bondurant, Iowa. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2007 at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, Iowa 50009.
