Ruth G. Overton

Ruth Gladys Overton, 92, was born August 25, 1923 in Des Moines, the daughter of Jesse and Annie (Faircloth) Fredregill. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Friday, August 5, 2016.

In addition to being a homemaker, Ruth worked in Retail Sales throughout her life, including many years spent at Younkers and WT Grant. She had such a strong faith and enjoyed attending church and spending time with her church family. Above all else, Ruth cherished her family and all of the special memories made with them.

Ruth is survived by her son, Paul (Mary) Overton of Omaha; grandsons, Jason (Hope) Overton and Matthew (Karin) Overton; great-grandchildren, Trinity, Taylor, Sydney, Olivia, Juliana, Zach, Brooklyn, Jaden, Faith, Matthew and Raenah; sister-in-law, Cecelia Fredregill; other loving relatives and many special friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Melvin Overton; infant son, Wayne; brothers, Bill, George and Dwight Fredregill and her sister, Leona Pike.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. with entombment to follow at Resthaven Mausoleum. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services.
