Just out of college, my first job landed me at Firestone Tire & Rubber. As a wide-eyed kid tossed into the macho world of a manufacturing plant, who else taught me the ropes, but Carl Gracey. From knowing what to do, and what NOT to do, knowing the exact time to go on a smoke break, and even something about a Gold Sheet, Carl took me under his wing and made me feel at ease. I think he had that effect on us all. Condolences to the Gracey family on the passing of my good friend Carl.

Carl had such a huge impact on my life growing up. He was like a surrogate grandfather to me. I would spend hours with him and Joann after school and during the summer. He was a great man and I will truly miss him.

Although time and miles have distanced me from my good friend Dan and his father, I can still see Carl sitting there quietly in the bleachers watching his son play basketball so many decades ago; a more dedicated father you will not find anywhere. Take comfort, Dan, Becky and Patty, knowing that you had your father a long time, something not all of us can say. We are only given so much time on this earth, he made the best of it. He was one of those that made "The Greatest Generation".

Having Carl as a neighbor was a blessing for our entire family. He loved talking with the guys about the wars and work. He loved our kids as his own. He will be missed greatly.

Growing up Carl lived about 100 yards from my house. His son is my good friend, Danny. I witnessed the close relationship Danny and Carl had from then until now. I do not think I have ever seen a closer father son relationship. I was lucky enough to receive some of Carl's quite calm sage advice and will never forget him. My sincerest condolence's to Danny and his family.
