Ruth Albertha Boeckholt

Ruth A. Boeckholt, 84, passed away on August 1, 2016.

Ruth was born to Garrett and Albertha Johnson on August 15, 1931 in Kossuth County, Iowa.

As a child, she lived on a farm in Ledyard, Iowa. In her teen years, she moved to Armstrong where she attended Armstrong High School and played on the girls basketball team. Ruth graduated with the class of 1949.

Ruth married Donald E. Boeckholt on September 5, 1952 in Blue Earth, Minnesota. They lived in Bancroft, Iowa for about five years before moving to Des Moines. To this union, six children were born.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Ruth was a lifelong homemaker and occasionally worked providing care to the elderly and children.

Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, camping, playing cards, making music, crocheting, crafts, gardening, and was an exceptional cook and baker.

Ruth is survived by her children, Roberta Jackson, Dianne (Earnest) Prather, Marsha (Kurt) Hammer, Donald H. (Sarah), Laurie (Steve) Draper, and Steven (Cyndi); 18 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, nine siblings, husband, Donald, and sons-in-law, Ron LaPlante and David Jackson.
