Anna Louise Reed

Anna Louise Reed, 88, went to be with her Lord and the love of her life on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Unity Point Hospice Taylor House.

Anna was born May 23, 1928 in Des Moines to Herbert and Rosa (Speck) Elifritis. She married Kenneth Reed on February 9, 1946. They were married 66 years at the time of his passing in 2012. Anna was a lifelong member of Chesterfield Christian Church and looked forward to working at the church’s dining tent at the Iowa State Fair. She helped nurture the lives of countless children and spent many volunteer hours at Phenix Elementary School in West Des Moines.

Anna is survived by her children, Michael (LaJean) Reed, Sally Dross, Kenny Reed, Jr., (Roberta Ochoa) and Kevin Reed; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Kenneth Sr.; son, Dennis Ray Reed; grandson, Denny Reed, Jr.; great-great-grandson, Levi; two sisters; and a brother.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 4th at the funeral home with burial following at Liberty Cemetery in Bussey, Iowa
