Kenneth Dale Oostenink, 67, was born August 23, 1948 in Hull, Iowa, the son of Richard and Wilmina (Burggraaff) Oostenink. He passed away unexpectedly Friday, July 29, 2016.
Ken graduated from Boyden-Hull High School in Hull, Iowa in 1966. After high school he attended and graduated from Nettleton Business College with a Professional Accounting Degree in April, 1968.
Ken was drafted into the US Army from 1968-1970, serving in Vietnam 1968-1969 with Charlie Company 1st Battalion 8th Infantry 4th Infantry Division.
He married Lois Bonestroo in February, 1970 in Hull, Iowa while on leave. They were stationed at Fort Ord, California where they resided until April, 1970 when he received an early out to go back to college.
Ken continued his education at Fort Lauderdale University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and earned a BBA degree in Real Estate and Insurance, returning to Le Mars, Iowa in 1972 where he started their business Oostenink Real Estate and Auction, Inc.
They moved to the Des Moines Area in 2002 to be closer to their kids and grandkids. He worked for Iowa Realty and ReMax as a managing broker until retiring completely in December, 2010.
Ken especially loved going to all of his grandkids activities and missed attending very few. He had a special adoration for his wife and two daughters. He was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan and enjoyed golf, fishing and traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Ken enjoyed helping others and had an infectious smile and giggle.
