Suzanne Dullard

Suzanne Charlotte Dullard, 71, was born March 1, 1945 in Des Moines, the daughter of Maurice and Helene (Berggren) Nelson. She passed away due to complications of juvenile diabetes Sunday, July 24, 2016 at the Taylor House surrounded by her loving family. Suzie was a life-long resident of Des Moines and a full-time home maker. She graduated from East High School in 1963 and was a member of Union Park Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed being with her family and participating in family events. Her love of animals, especially cats, were shown in her conversations with others, the clothing she wore, and her décor. Suzie was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in her teens and lived with it for over 58 years. During the last couple years, she was cared for at home until her recent hospitalization. Suzie is survived by her husband of 33 years, Steve Dullard; children, James (Lena) Karrett Jr. and Pamela (David) McGuffin; grandsons, Trevor and Lukas; brother, Paul (Lois) Nelson; sister-in-law, Marlene Nelson; two step-children and her step grandchildren; other loving relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Gary Nelson.
The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Union Park Baptist Church or the Taylor House in loving memory of Suzie. On-line condolences may be expressed at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com
