Kenneth Mash
July 20, 2016
Mr. Kenneth Mash, age 80, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Union Park Health Care Services in Des Moines after a courageous battle with cancer.
Kenneth was born January 31, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa to Charles and Dorothy Mash. He graduated from East High School where he excelled at track and was proud to have run in the Drake Relays. He served his country in the U.S. Army, where he continued to compete in track events. Kenneth lived for a time in California, which he remembers fondly, before relocating back to Iowa.
Kenneth enjoyed betting on horse and dog races at Prairie Meadows. He kept his mind sharp by challenging himself with puzzles. Kenneth enjoyed sharing his life through stories. He worked various jobs during his life that allowed him to make connections with people, including driving a limousine and serving as a bartender.
He is survived by his brother, Norman (May) of Japan; daughter, Tracye of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Kaycee (Justin) and granddaughter, Devyn, all of Altoona; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings.

It was such a pleasure to meet Ken and Kaycee. We all fell in love with Ken! He was such a wonderful man. Never a harsh word and always so kind. He liked to sit and talk with all of us here at Union Park. He was a kind soul. We will all miss him, but I am very thankful I got to know him a little bit! Thinking of you all.....

Uncle Kenneth you will be missed but not forgotten. I look forward to that day when Jesus Christ will awaken all those in their memorial tombs back to life with the prospect of living on the earth forever. ( John 5:28,29, Psalm 37:29). I will get to see you and the rest of our family who have fallen asleep in death before you. Rest dear Uncle. I know I will see you soon.
