Nedra Ruth Guzman, 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, July 19, 2016. She was born October 5, 1937 in Des Moines to Eugene and Esther Whitney.
Nedra married John Guzman on July 22, 1961. She loved being a wife and a mother and enjoyed raising her family. She ended her working career at Younkers doing supply requisitions management. Nedra’s hobbies included painting, puzzles, and reading. She was an animal lover and liked playing cards with her friends.
Nedra is survived by her children, Jeanie Tiedt (Charles), Alan Guzman (Gina), and John Guzman II (Debbie); nine grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter, Dawn Renee Mitchell; and her brother, Jack Whitney.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 3820 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, IA 50315. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church.

We are very sorry for your lose, Nedra was are older cousin and we had so much fun growing up together. We just heard about her passing yesterday.

Johnny, Alan, and Jeanne, I'm very sorry to hear about your Mom. Nedra was a fun lady! I have many great memories of your family in our early years! Good times with your parents John and Nedra.

I want to send my sympathies to John and his family. I meant your mom when we lived next door to you on Caulder. She was always smiling. It is very hard to bury a parent. I wish I had the words to comfort you and your family, I can only say that I am thinking of all of you.
God will give you peace and comfort.
