Gerardo Sanchez-Ortiz

Gerardo Sanchez-Ortiz, 40, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. He was born March 11, 1976 in Mexico City, Mexico.

Gerardo was a chef at various Des Moines restaurants. He was known as “Mr. Show” by his family and friends and enjoyed singing and performing at private events.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Laura Sanchez; mother, Maria Guadalupe Ortiz; brother, Miguel Francisco Ortiz; two daughters; step-children, Giselle and Alexis; and many loving family members and friends.

A mass will be celebrated in his memory at 6 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street. Visitation will be held at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 30, 2016 and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2016. He will be laid to rest in Mexico City, Mexico.
