July 15, 2016
Lois Besco, 89, died on July 15, 2016 in Des Moines, IA. Per Lois’s request cremation has occurred and family and friends will gather on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at the Chariton Cemetery in Chariton, IA, for a graveside service.
Lois was born on April 6, 1927 in Milo, Iowa. The daughter of Elfa and Emery Arnold. In 1947 Lois married her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, Dale Besco. They enjoyed 62 years of marriage. Lois selflessly gave her time to raising her two children and supporting her husband in his career and related job relocations. They enjoyed living in Iowa, Minnesota, Ohio, and Illinois. Throughout her life Lois worked as a country school teacher, helped Dale in the retail business, and was a middle school secretary.
She will be remembered by her family and everyone fortunate enough to have known her as a warm, nurturing woman.
While her death is a blessing for her, she leaves behind a string of broken hearts. Her spirit is carried on by her son, Terry (Patti); daughter, Alise (Jonann Noftsger); brother, Max Arnold; brother-in-law, Donald Besco; 3 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Dale.

Alise, it always made my day to see you pull up to the salon with Lois. She had such a good heart and put others ahead of herself. She never missed the opportunity to ask me about my own mothers health even as hers continued to decline. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family today. It was my pleasure to have her in my life.
She was very proud of you, as she should be. Take Care, Lori Albrecht

Alise, I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing away. I know it's hard to lose a parent and hasn't been that long since you lost your dad. Her pain and suffering is now over, but she leaves family and friends to grieve over her loss. Your mom has a long and loving life with your dad and her 2 children.Hope soon that loving memories will fill in the heartfelt sadness that you will have for now.
