Laura Mae Alexander

Laura Mae Alexander passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital. She was born May 13, 1925 in Sumner, Iowa to Charles and Viola Thompson. She and her family moved to Des Moines when she was 16 years old. She had worked at Utica and Lane Bryant in downtown Des Moines. She was a member of Miller United Methodist Church until it closed and then became a member at Union Park United Methodist Church.

Services will be held at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines on Friday, July 8, 2016. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. followed immediately by funeral service at 11 a.m. Laura will be laid to rest at Resthaven Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Union Park United Methodist Church, 2305 12th Street, Des Moines, IA 50316.

Laura is survived by several loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and husband, Gerald “Bill” Alexander.

The family would like to thank The Gardens for the excellent care of Laura while she was a resident.
