Leslie Ruth White

Leslie Ruth White, 77, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.

Leslie was a remarkable woman. She was born September 2, 1938 to August “Gus” and Ruth Rump in Des Moines, IA. After graduation from Lincoln High School, Leslie attended Cornell College in Iowa majoring in art. While there she met Edward White and the couple was married following graduation. They moved to California where Leslie was a devoted homemaker who adored caring for her home and family. At a very young age, Eddie was diagnosed with brain cancer and Leslie was his caretaker until his death. With two children still at home Leslie returned to school for her teaching certificate. She taught first and second grade in Lancaster, CA for 20 years. She always wowed her students and their parents with her artistic abilities, traits she received from her beloved mother. After retirement she returned to her roots in Des Moines. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Leslie was a kind and selfless person devoted to helping others. She cared for her children, her students, her husband, and many friends and family members through the years. Leslie was an inspiration to those around her.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Chris White of California, Tim White of Des Moines and Elizabeth (David) Jauron of Grimes, IA; her grandchildren, Drew and Ellie Jauron; sisters, Eunice Ann (Gordon) Hunt of Illinois and Mary Keck of Des Moines; and numerous nieces and nephews. Leslie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
