Carol Jean Coulter, 81, passed away on May 30th, 2016, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born in Kewanee, Illinois, on December 13, 1934, to Edna and Ralph Newman.

Carol worked as a receptionist for various companies throughout the years. She liked shopping, camping, flowers and plants, and spending time with her family. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Oskaloosa.

Carol is survived by her children, Randall (Deborah) Coulter and Lynn (Steven) Cox; daughter-in-law, Dawn (Cliff) Coulter-Hicks; grandchildren, Chad (Heather) Coulter, Tracy Cannon, Joshua (Kristy) Coulter, Nathan (Sheree) Coulter, Daniel (Maggie) Cox, Amy (Nate) Cox, Philip Cox, Susan Cox; great-grandchildren, Kinley, Kroslee, Kylie, Elijah, Benjamin, Gioia, Yasmine, Aiden, Noah, Ainsleigh, Aumrielle; sister-in-law, Marlene Cox; a niece and nephew, as well as many beloved friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Newman, Edna and Emil Peterson; her husband, Donald; her son, Kevin; and her great granddaughter, Maia Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3rd, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Ave., Des Moines, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
