Maria Stella Marasco

Maria Stella Marasco, 98, passed away May 28, 2016 surrounded by her family. The only daughter of Natale and Maria Francesca Chiodo. She was born November 21, 1918 in Soveria Mannelli, Italy.

She was a beautiful person and devoted to her family. Maria Stella was the ultimate example of faith, forgiveness, kindness and always saw the good in everyone. She married Frank Marasco on December 13, 1941.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Frank, Mike and Alfred Chiodo; her husband, Frank and cherished granddaughter, Anne Marie Pikus Shondell.

Maria Stella’s greatest legacy are her children and their families who will miss her beyond words.

Those left to survive her are her daughter, Brigid (Bill) Burgett of Overland Park, Kansas; son, Petey (Marva) Marasco and daughter, Antoniette (Vincent) DeAngelis all of Des Moines, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and Baby Girl DeAngelis on the way.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 15 Indianola Ave., Des Moines. There will be a Rosary at 9:30 AM followed by visitation prior to the Mass. The Celebrant of Holy Mass will be her beloved nephew, Monsignor Frank Chiodo. Burial will follow the services at Glendale Cemetery.
