Maxine Louise Ferguson

Maxine Louise Ferguson, 93, was born August 1, 1922, to Fred and Sarah Huffman in Des Moines. She passed away at Taylor House-UnityPoint in Des Moines on May 28, 2016.

Maxine graduated from East High School in 1940 and was a long time member of Ivy Centennial Church. She enjoyed reading, embroidering, needlepoint and cooking. Maxine especially loved spending time with her family.

Maxine is survived by her children, Kenneth (Jane) Ferguson, Michael (Mary) Ferguson; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wesley (Vel) Huffman and Clista (Ron) Gail. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Kenneth Ferguson; her parents; infant son, Walter Fredrick; brother, Orlen Huffman.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2016, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona with burial to follow at Lowman Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Lowman Cemetery Association or Taylor House Hospice in loving memory of Maxine.
