Dwight Brown, 79, passed away on May 13, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines surrounded by his family. He was born in Carroll, Iowa on July 3, 1936, to Rosetta and Fred Bushman and was raised by his adopted parents Katie and Floyd Brown.

Dwight was known as a jokester, always getting Wanda in trouble. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather. He attended and graduated in 1955 from Jefferson High School. In August of that year he married his high school sweetheart, Wanda.

Dwight owned Brownies Service Enterprise in Bondurant where he retired in 2000. He enjoyed square dancing, stained glass, camping and winter trips to Arkansas. He had a love for his dogs; Dino and Yogi. Dwight was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ankeny.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wanda, children: Greg (Michelle-“Chelley”) Brown and Brad (Carmen) Brown; grandchildren, Brandi, Shannon, Angela (Michael), Charisse (Andy) and Michael (Sara); great grandchildren, Kirk, Zachary, Dylan, Nicole, Christopher and Devyn; brother Duane (Barb) Bushman. Dwight is preceded in death by his adopted parents, Katie and Floyd Brown, his birth parents, Rosetta and Fred Bushman; brothers, Robert and Donnie (Marcia) and sister Madelyn (Ed).

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses in Powell at Iowa Methodist Hospital for the devotion and care of Dwight.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be directed to the ARL in his memory.

Please join and share a memory with us in celebration of Dwight’s life during the visitation from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, 206 SW Walnut Street in Ankeny, IA. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 16, at First United Methodist Church.
