Donna Johnston

Donna Lee Johnston passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Indianola following a 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s. Donna was born on June 12, 1939 in Clio, Iowa to Frank and Nannie Gardner. After graduating, she married Dale Johnston and moved to Des Moines. Donna worked at National Handcraft, Merry Maids, and Orchard Place until she retired. She enjoyed lots of hobbies over her lifetime but her pride and joy was her granddaughter, Emily.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Debbie (Ron) McNeeley; granddaughter, Emily; great-grandson, Colton; sister, Linda Dilliner, special niece Connie (Chick) Hesser, sister-in-law, Velma Gardner; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; and her siblings, Morris, Bonnie, and Ada.

A graveside committal service will be held at Elm Grove Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2016.
