Bobby J. Stanford

Bobby Jack Stanford, 81, passed away peacefully Friday, May 6, 2016 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Bob was born September 12, 1934 in Runnells, Iowa to Robert and Evelyn (Busby) Stanford. He worked for Firestone for 32 years prior to his retirement in 1994. Bob was proud of the fact that he worked on the Red Rock Dam when it was first built. He also owned several bars in his earlier years.

He enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and cars. Wheeling and dealing with automobiles was always his passion. Bob enjoyed life in general, living each day to its fullest. He treasured spending time with his companion, Dee and enjoyed gambling at Prairie Meadows.

Bob is survived by his friend and companion, Dee Johnson; his children, Robert Stanford of Chariton, IA, Cathy McGovern of Peoria, AZ, Candy Christianson of Yakima, WA, and Ronnie Stanford of Altho, ID; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy Stanford of Urbandale, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.
