W.H. "Wes" Lampe

W.H. “Wes” Lampe, 87, of Des Moines passed away Sunday, November 4, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday evening at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home. He will then travel with his daughter to his final resting place with his wife at the Southlawn Memorial Cemetery, Petersburg, VA.
Wes was born on March 3, 1920 to William and Anna Lampe in Battle Creek, IA. Wes was a carpenter by trade and an excellent craftsman. He loved cooking, baking, bird watching, fishing, gardening and most of all his coffee. Wes was very active in his church; he was a 50 year Mason and was a faithful member of the Tuesday Workers Group at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Dinwiddie, VA.
Wes is survived by his children, Debra Abadie of Newport News, VA, Kathy (Charlie) White of Chesapeake, VA., William W. “Bill” Lampe, Teresa (Ron) Koser of Prince George, VA., Duane Lampe of Des Moines, IA.; sister, AnnaBelle Wacker of Belleview, IA.; Twelve Grandchildren and Six Great Grandchildren; Many loving nieces, nephews and extended family, and his close friend Diane Brown. Wes is preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years VerDonna “Donna” Lampe. Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa Heart Foundation.
