Joanne Bentley

Joanne Mable Bentley, 80, of Ankeny, died April 15, 2016 at State Center Nursing and Rehab where she received outstanding care for the last several years.

Joanne was born May 7, 1935 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was married to Gary William Bentley on August 29, 1952. She was proud to be mother to their four children. Her favorite job was working with her husband and sons at Gordon Wholesale for several years.

Joanne was a member of the Highland Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Des Moines. She had an intense love for her faith and her family.

Joanne enjoyed filling her time with artistic pursuits including painting, making porcelain dolls, crocheting, sewing, and drawing. In her younger years she loved singing. She was an amazing listener and always had an open door for her family.

Survivors are her children, Tami (Scott) Hammerly, Randy (Theresa) Bentley, Bary (Linda) Bentley, Rory Bentley, all of Ankeny; brothers Richard Rogers and Bill Green; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 Saturday at the Highland Park Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 6271 NE 14th St. in Des Moines.
