Willodean Matthews

Willodean "Dean" Matthews-Johnson was born in Clinton, Ala on October 6th, 1941. She lived most of her life in Detroit, MI, with Friend Barbara Joseph. She loved her family and friends and would do anything that she could for them - not to mention all of her grandchildren. In her younger days she liked to travel and go to Atlantic City until her health became a problem.

In March 2016 she moved to Johnston, IA, to live out her days with her son Ce'Trick and his family. She became sick two weeks after arriving, and was admitted to Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, IA, where is passed away on April 6th, 2016, due to complications of Chronic Kidney Failure.

She is preceded in death with her mother Warrene Matthews and Father John Henry and long time friend Barbara "Bobbie" Joseph.

She leaves behind two sons, Cenaca Willis and Ce'Trick Willis, and daughter-in-law Babette Bates-Willis; two brothers, Charles Matthews of Michigan and Wayne Matthews in New York; four grandchildren, Javian Bates, Brandon Willis, and Artice Willis of Johnston, IA, and Ta'za Willis of Detroit, MI.
