Donna Kay Loughry, 73, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 3, 2016 with her family by her side.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 7 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd, Des Moines with burial to follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Donna was born April 26, 1942 in Sioux City, Iowa to Donald and Carol (Wheeler) Lynch. She earned her nursing degree and worked as a registered nurse at Mercy Hospital as well as hospitals in Illinois and Minnesota. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Donna was a master quilter and enjoyed both vegetable and flower gardening. She and her brother, Dave coached Little League and won the State Championship. As a younger person, Donna enjoyed bowling and competed on the national level. Family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them. Her passing has left a hole that cannot be filled.
Donna is survived by her husband, Lee; children, Sandy Somers and Steve Loughry; grandchildren, Chandler and Kennedy Somers; siblings, Dennis (Colleen) Lynch, David Lynch, Bill (Alma) Lynch, Deanne (Russ) Prewitt, Tom Lynch, Larry (Linda) Lynch, Terry (Pam) Lynch, and Kathy Haley; and as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Carol Lynch.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in memory of Donna.
