Sheryl Diane Gilmore, 69, was born July 7, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lester and Hilda (Smith) Van Buskirk. She passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Taylor House Hospice.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 31, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, April 1, also at Hamilton’s, with interment at Avon Cemetery.
Sheryl is survived by her daughters, Penny (Joe) Shepherd and Lynnae Gilmore; grandsons, Cole, Cory, Kian, and Austin; siblings, Gary (Karen) Van Buskirk and Karen (Jack) Switzer; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Sheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; and brothers, Chet and Jackie.

Hi, I am sorry to hear about Sheryl. I didn't hear about this soon enough to make it back. I do know you, her family was important. But now no more pain, just enjoyment to be with God and all those who have gone before us. My thoughts are with you.

Sorry to hear of Sheryl's passing. I will always have fond memories of working with her and other visits. She was very proud of her family and loved you all very much. May God be with you during this time and my prayers and thoughts are also coming.
