Service Details

Lee Decker was born April 6, 1939 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Snowden and Opal (Streets) Decker. He passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown at the age of 76.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 4, also at Hamilton’s, with burial at Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Van Meter, Iowa at 12:30 p.m.

Lee very proudly served in the U. S. Army from 1963 – 1965 active duty, and 1965 -1969 in the reserves. He worked in the trucking industry and was owner and operator of All Iowa Moving for 37 years. As a younger man, Lee made his way to California, spent some time building ’57 Chevrolets, and then hitchhiked back to Iowa. He loved playing pool and cheering on the Drake Women’s Basketball team and the Iowa Cubs.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; children, Ronald, Jeffrey, and Luana (Brad) Moriarity; and six grandchildren.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Laurynda Northway.
