James David. Geyer, 75, died on Thursday, November 1, 2007 at University of Iowa Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2007 at New Life Lutheran Church, 4380 Wakonda Drive, Norwalk. Visitation will occur one hour prior to the service at the church.
James was born August 11, 1932 to Stanger and Mabel Geyer in Des Moines. He graduated from East High School in 1951 and served in the Navy. James retired from Meredith Corp in 1992 after 43 ½ years and was a member and former president of Local Union 71B of the GAIU. He was a member of New Life Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge Daylight #660, American Legion Cummings #562, and Save the Males Bicycle Club. Jim was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs fan.
James is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, David and Paul Geyer; sister, Linda Myers; brother, Robert (Shirley) Geyer; grandchildren, Stephanie, Steven, Lisa, Nick, and Cole; and a host of beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother.
Memorial contributions may be given to New Life Lutheran Church.
