George E. Douglas
March 16, 2016
George E. Douglas, age 71, was born May 8, 1944 to Mage and Mable Douglas. He married the love of his life, Genieve Bland on February 23, 1962. To this marriage, four children were born. George was a construction worker all his life. He owned G.E. Douglas Sewer & Plumbing with his family. He loved horses and his dog, Bella. George also loved to play his guitar but above all, his family was most important to him.
He passed away peacefully with his family by his side Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
According to George’s wishes, there will be no public services held.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Genieve Douglas; daughters, Kelleigh (Jerry Bickford) and Georgianna (Tony Randolph); granddaughter, Freedom Ore (Joe Glasco); great-grandchildren, Shannon, Jacob, and Ashley; sister, Linda Turkington (Turk); and nephews, J.R. Legg and Doug Turkington.
George was preceded in death by his father, Mage Douglas; mother, Mable Douglas; sons, John H. Douglas and George E. Douglas Jr.; and brothers, Phil and Bill Douglas.
In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that memorials be directed to the family.
