Russell Morris

Russell Morris passed away in Des Moines on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the age of 79. Those who adored him are brokenhearted.

Born on October 26, 1936 in Iowa, he attended East High School and worked at Super Value Warehouse for 40 years.

Russ was truly happy when surrounded by his family, golfing at Terrace Hills Golf Course with his buddies, visiting casinos, playing cards and following the Iowa Hawkeyes, New York Yankees, Chicago Bears and Boston Celtics.

He was a beloved husband, wonderful father, adored grandfather and great-grandfather, loving son and brother.

Russ was one of a kind. He left this world before his family and friends were ready to say goodbye. He will be remembered as a generous and fun loving man, with a smile that could light up a room and a hug that could make everything better.

He was married to his loving wife, Gladys Morris on July 12, 1974. They were married 41 beautiful years. Russ and Gladys were inseparable.

He will always be remembered by his wife, Gladys Morris, and children, Debbie Cott (Stu), Diane Fishman, John Poland (Paula), Mike Poland (Denise), Dave Poland (Theresa), and Rick Clark (Karen). Also his beloved grandchildren, Josh Fishman (Denise), Jason Poland, Stacey Fishman Marotta (Bryan), Jeremy Fishman (Angie), Nicole Wright (Eddie), Kellie Poland (Zifad), April Poland, Sarah Sepich (Dan), Andrew Clark, and Cameo Cott; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Kadie, Conner, Emma, Madison, Hunter, Skyler, Paityn, and Scarlett.

Children from a previous marriage included, Junior, David, Leonard and Lily along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, March 12th followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
