Elisabeth Julia (Lohmann) Hittle, 92, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.
Elisabeth was born September 22, 1923 in Germany to Heinrich and Marguita (Becker) Lohmann. She was married to Wilber Hittle, who precedes her in death, and she worked at American Republic Insurance in the accounting department. Elisabeth served as the secretary of the German American Club and was a member of Highland Park Christian Church.
She is survived by her son, Henry of Des Moines and a grandson, granddaughter, four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild all of Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to her husband, Elisabeth was preceded in death by her parents.
According to her wishes, there will be no services held at this time.

Dear Henry,
Although we do not know one another, I want to express my sympathy at the loss of your mother. Your mom worked closely with my mother, Alice Shaver, for decades at American Republic. Elisabeth was always so nice to me. When I was growing up she always sent birthday cards, get well cards and little gifts. I still have these items in my memory box. I have very fond memories of going to your parent's home to celebrate Christmas. I spoke to your mom at Christmas time, as was our usual routine, and had planned to stop and visit. I feel terrible that I never made it there over the holidays this year. May your memories lift you during this difficult time. I'm sorry to lose such a sweet woman, she was one of a kind.
