Michael Lee Cosner, 72, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Michael was born October 22, 1943 in Des Moines, Iowa to Emery and Velna (Hopkins) Cosner. He graduated from East High School and retired from Titan Tires. Michael loved animals and was the unofficial 4-Mile Rescue League. He enjoyed music, flower gardening, and good food.
Michael is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carmella; children, Todd (Wendy) Cosner, Rod (Lisa) Cosner, Stefani Sibert, and Jim Sibert; grandchildren, Brittany, Kaitlyn, Emily, David, Derek, and Natalie Cosner, Tanner and Logan Onder, B.J. McClain, Shane, Adam, and Jacob Burkhead, and Tayler and Alex Sibert; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Makaio, Sophie, Monica, Kayne, Kolton, and Jordan; siblings, Gordon Cosner, Nancy (Jim) Cairns, and Sue (Ted) Downey; as well as a host of other extended relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughters, Cheryl Cosner and Michele Cosner; and eleven brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Funeral service will begin at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, March 10, also at Hamilton’s, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League.
