Michael "Mike" Melvin Lapour

Mike Lapour, 63, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 of natural causes. He was born on October 9, 1952 to Melvin and Merle Lapour in Des Moines, Iowa.

Mike graduated from East High School with the class of 1970. He was an avid NASCAR fan and a proud member of Goodguys Rod & Custom Association. Mike retired from Neumann Brothers, Inc as a construction carpenter. He loved going to the Iowa State Fair each and every year with family and friends.

He is survived by his brothers, Cary Lapour and Craig (Laura) Lapour; sister, Maralee (Doug) Kruse; nieces, Rebekah and Amy; nephews, Zachery and Matthew; stepchildren, John (Jessica) Brown, Staci (Mason) Schwarz, Leigh (Jason) Peno, and Kelly (Mike) Carley; grandson, Jackson Brown; former spouses, Terri Brown and Debbie Hart; special friend, Calli Martin; aunts, Helen Lapour and Irene Elsberry; and a host of extended family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Iowa State Fair in loving memory of Mike.
