Tilmer "Jerry" Dueland

Tilmer “Jerry” Dueland, 95, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center.

Jerry was born May 26, 1920 in Nevada, Iowa to Tolef and Gertrude Dueland. He served in the United States Army during WWII. He moved to Des Moines in 1956 and married Leta Curtis in June of 1957. Jerry retired in 1982 from the Des Moines Public School System, where he had worked in maintenance and as a school bus driver for 25 years. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and VFW Post #2209.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Sandy Mitchell; son-in-law, Dennis Organ; and a host of extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, two sisters, daughter, Kay Organ; son-in-law, Richard Mitchell; and his beloved wife, Leta.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 600 6th Avenue followed by burial at Resthaven Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.
