John Lee Grigsby

John L. Grigsby, 78, passed away February 25, 2016 at Urbandale Health Care Center in Urbandale, IA. Services will be held Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at United Methodist Church, 650 Ashworth Dr. in Waukee, IA with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. and the service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Elm Grove Cemetery in Des Moines.
John was born October 13, 1937 in Peoria, IL to Georgia P. (McCann) and Sidney L. Grigsby. After graduating from high school and one year of college, John served in the US Navy from 1958 to 1962. He worked as a Salesman for Flummerfelt Homes for 20 years. John was a member of United Methodist Church in Waukee and was a Mason.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Jacobsen-Grigsby; his children, Brad (Kelly) Grigsby, Lori Phillips and Marijo Grigsby; grandchildren, Sara and Scott Grigsby, Trey Phillips, Derek Grigsby, his sister, Donna (Jim) Riggenbach; and his step-family, children, Renee Jacobsen and Rick (Kerry) Jacobsen, grandchildren, Matt (Crystel) Corbin, Tyler (Cailee) Corbin, Malia and Lyle Jacobsen, and great-grandchild, Jack Corbin. John was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Grigsby.

I am so sorry for your loss. John was not only my classmate, but also a good friend. As so often happens, we tend to lose track and don't communicate as well when we move away. A regrettable situation when one passes.
