Robert G. Nereim, sailed to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 on his Viking ship to be with his Lord and Savior. He was born on June 18, 1944 in Decatur, Illinois.

Bob graduated from East High School and was a member of the football team. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He later received his bachelor’s degree from Simpson College and then began work for Capital Equipment at Methodist Hospital for 27 years as a purchasing agent.

He is survived by his mother, Norma Nereim; children, William (Becky) Rickabaugh, Georgia (Eric) Barker, Lora (Todd) Morton, and Zachary (Tori) Aletheia; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Marcita (Greg) Cahail, Vickie Chrysler-Drafahl, and Sonya Hudson; and his companion, Karen Kleich.

Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Nereim; brother, Timothy Nereim; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. Private family graveside service will be held Monday, February 29th at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
