Nancylee Thoren

Nancylee Irene Thoren, 81, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Glen Oaks Care Center in Urbandale.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with funeral service to begin at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, Des Moines. Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Nancylee was born December 27, 1934 in Davenport, Iowa to Donald and Dorothy (Priest) Bracelin. Her family was very important to her and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. In her free time she enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Donald and Dorothy; her husband, Laverne Thoren, Sr.; siblings, Janet Lapcheske, Patricia Donahey, and Don Bracelin; grandson, Andy Thoren; and an infant son, Alvin Marcus.

Nancylee is survived by her children, Laverne Thoren, Jr., Sheila (Mark) Reese, and Brenda (Mike) Rask; grandchildren, Laverne (Allison) Thoren III, Christopher (Jennifer) Thoren, Sarah (Mark) Mills, Eric Reese, Nick (Laura) Dillon, and Max (Sydnie Rask) Dillon; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Care Initiative Hospice or to the Animal Rescue League.
