Kenneth W. "Wayne" Allsup

Kenneth “Wayne” Allsup, 75, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at his home in Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m., with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Pkwy, West Des Moines. Burial will take place at Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 22.
Wayne was born March 11, 1940 in Adel, Iowa to Earnest and Susie Allsup. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 – 1963, stationed in Hawaii for part of that time. He raised five boys and was very proud of each of them. He always put his family first and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, and any activities outdoors. He was a people person and very outgoing, making friends wherever he went. In recent years, he enjoyed going to Prospect Park and feeding the geese with his friend Theresa.
He is survived by his children, Kevin (Tammy), Dan, Randy (Tammy), and Scott (Jane); step-children, Steve (Debbie) Eittreim, Greg (Lisa) Eittreim, and Cathy Fosselman; grandchildren, Larissa (Nick), Lucas (Amanda), Angela, Michael, Josh (Danielle), Carrie, Nicole, Tyler (Elizabeth), Dylan (Jessica), Josh, and Chad; many great-grandchildren; sister, Gloria Merical; special friend, Theresa Ryan; and many other extended family and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian; grandson, Christopher; and his siblings, Larry and Linda.

I knew Ken from the VA Hospital was a special kind of guy. A real crazy guy it was a pleasure knowing him with his friend Theresa as well. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. There is little I can say or do to ease your pain and suffering. Life is so short and our loved ones are gone from our lives too quickly. May you gain comfort from God's promise of a resurrection found in John 5:28 & 29 during you time of sorrow.

So sorry to hear about your Dad, I have fun memories of him growing up, spending time in the summer at the farm with him & Darlene and of course you boy's. You are in my thought's and prayer's.
