Marlene and I worked together from 1975-1977 at Orchard Place before we began our teaching careers. After that we taught side-by-side for six years at Samuelson Elementary School. Marlene was a sweet, funny, talented woman and a dear friend. I am so sorry for your loss.

Marlene was my niece. Although we moved to Cincinnati many years ago, we always made it a point to visit with Marlene and her mother, Julie (my sister-in-law), when we visited or were traveling through Des Moines. We were saddened that her last years had to be in a nursing home, She was a wonderful teacher and daughter who delighted in relating wonderful stories of "her kids" and including her mother on her many travels, especially to Scottsdale, Arizona.

I was so sorry to hear of Marlene's passing. We graduated together from Lincoln in 1969. She was on the Class Reunion Committee with me. I have so many fond memories of spending time with her. She was always a big help and made us smile. I am glad she is at peace.

Dante,Tom, Sandy,
You should take comfort that Marlene is finally at peace. I have fond memories of us at the many teacher in-service days at the convention center. We would always skip at least one session and have coffee/pop. I,of course, smoked a few cigarettes, too.
