Larry Wilson, Jr., 71, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the VA Hospital in Des Moines.
Larry was born March 3, 1944 in Iowa Falls, Iowa to Lawrence and Evelyn Wilson. He served in the United States Marine Corp. Larry was a restoration bricklayer with Western Waterproofing for 40 years. He was a member of Bricklayer’s Local #3. He enjoyed boating and fishing. Larry loved playing at Prairie Meadows and going to garage sales. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
Larry is survived by his wife, Jennie; children, April (Ben) Hitchcock, Dan (Lynette) Thornburg and Marcia Bragg; grandchildren, Justice, Lincoln, Eli, Jessica, Jennifer and Kristin; great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Miya, Bella, Edin and Landin; siblings, Judy (Bob) Zasada, Jerry (Dawn) Wilson, David Wilson and Milton (Paula) Rhiner; and a host of extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Wilson, Sr.; mother, Evelyn Rhiner; and his sister, Patricia Wilson.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 followed by the funeral service at 12 p.m. at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Lawrence will be laid to rest at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
