Marjorie Louise Wishman
January 21, 2016
Marjorie Louise (Stone) Wishman was born June 26, 1918 in Galt, MO. Her parents were Arthur and Mable Stone. They lived in Missouri, Colorado and Des Moines, Iowa. Marjorie departed this world for Heaven on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 3:45 p.m.
She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of nine and served Him all of her life, as she did her family and her church, First Church of the Open Bible. Marjorie was a charter member of the church along with her grandparents and parents, and was the last surviving charter member. She worked in the Sunday school office for more than 50 years, and for many years prepared funeral dinners alongside her mother, and in later years with her husband, William. As a couple, Marjorie and William worked with the youth and led family circle. For most of her adult years, Marjorie kept a scrapbook of all the church news and noteworthy events. Her latest ministry, before she became one, was to visit the shut-ins.
Marjorie married William R. Wishman on August 18, 1940. To that union was born one son, William Arthur Wishman. When her husband served his country in WWII, Marjorie prayed tirelessly for him every day. She often spoke of the times the three of them were together in California before he shipped out to war and no one would rent to them because they had a child.
Among her many hobbies were sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting – giving many of her projects to friends and family. She loved her doggie companions, Gigi, Rusty and Charley.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, and her husband of 59 years, William. Left to remember Marjorie are her son, William A. Wishman (Kathy); three grandchildren, Todd Wishman (Stephanie), Eric Wishman (Kara), and Heidi Adams (Nick); 10 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Katelyn, Madison, Dylan, Abigail, Allison, William, Jackson, Leah and Maya; and many friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, IA and the funeral service on Thursday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. at First Church of the Open Bible, 2200 Beaver Avenue, Des Moines, IA. Private burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be direct to First Church of the Open Bible or to the Polk County Senior Center in West Des Moines. Condolences may be expressed online at www.HamiltonsFuneralHome.com.

Bill and Kathy
So sorry to hear about Marge. I have such fond memories of her. She was so kind to get me my first job at Roosevelt fabric shop. Her love of sewing inspired me. Marge and Bill grew up with my mom and dad starting back at the old church. Marge and my mom were the happiest cooking in the kitchen at first church. Last time I saw Marge was at the retirement home where Marge was delivering poinsettias to my dad. I remember how my dads face lit up when he saw her. They told each other jokes and gave each other hugs. I will miss her.

Bill, Kathy, & family, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, yet rejoicing that she is with her Lord. I have very fond memories of her. She was so kind to me when Steve & I were first married and had just moved to Des Moines. I was overwhelmed trying to learn everyone's names and relationships at First Church. She put me at ease and always spoke to me, making me feel so welcome. She was a lady that I admired greatly. Take comfort in knowing that she left a beautiful legacy of love and service. May God bless you all and give you comfort and peace.

Dear Bill and Kathy,
We were sorry to see that your mother had passed away! Sad because it left a void in your lives but yet happy for her because she was ready to go. We loved your mother! When we got married 43 years ago, she was the one in charge of our reception at First Church! When we left for Africa your parents prayed for us! Every time we came back to First Church, while on furlough, your parents always hugged us and let us know that they loved us and prayed for us! We saw your mother at First Church last year...September 2015, right before we left to return to Guinea! We loved and appreciated her and we will miss her! Our love, prayers and sympathy are with you and your family during this time.
Hugs,
Tom and Sherry Moore
