Janet Brown

Janet Louise Brown passed away peacefully on January 17th, 2016 in Surprise, AZ. Janet was born and raised in Des. Moines, IA. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Janet was born November 14, 1947 in Des Moines to Curtis and L. Louise (Link) Shiffer. She and her ex-husband George Brown owned and operated Brown Industries Corp. Janet’s main focus throughout life was her family. She was a fighter and an 18 year survivor after a double lung transplant. In her free time she enjoyed painting, singing and dancing. She was a member of Palm Vista Baptist Church in Arizona.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Audra L. Brown of Surprise, AZ; her son, Aaron P. Brown of Surprise, AZ; her stepson, Dennis P. Brown; two grandsons, Robert Paul & Aaron Jeremiah Brown of Surprise, AZ; her father, Curtis Shiffer of Des. Moines, IA; two sisters, Karen Wittmaier and Brenda Walker; brother, Craig Shiffer of Des. Moines, IA; ex-husband and friend, George P. Brown and friend, Roxanne Matthews both of Surprise, AZ; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and many friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, L. Louise Field; brother, Brian Coates; daughter-in law Denise Brown and step-father, Lyle McCargar.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m. noon until service time on Monday at the funeral home.
