Robert Allen Frantz

Robert Frantz, 84, passed away suddenly on January 14, 2016. He was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on January 22, 1931, the son of Oscar and Anne Frantz.

Robert graduated from Woodside High School. He retired from John Deere after 28 years as an Experimental Mechanic. He participated in car clubs and was a member of the Bee Keepers Association and Machinist Union.

Robert is survived by his children, David (Marlene) Frantz, Brenda (Don) Frank, Joyce (Don) Gray, Gary (Kathleen Watts) Frantz, James (Louise) Frantz, and Steve (Roberta) Frantz; 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a host of other loving family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Joan Frantz; and daughter, Diane Marie Frantz.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Ridgedale Cemetery in Johnston, Iowa. The family will receive visitors Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
