To the family of Howard Klobnak,
I am forever indebted to Howard for a number of reasons. Most importantly because he saved the life of my son, John. When John was a baby and became sick enough that I had to take him to the Doctor once, our own family doctor happened to be out of town. We were sent to the Doctor that was on call. The doctor prescribed medicine and I took the prescription to Howard.
He studied it and asked, "Isn't John your new baby?"
I said, "Yes."
He said, "Well, I can't fill this prescription without calling the doctor because the dosage is not right for an infant and could even kill him!"
Thank God that Howard knew our family and cared enough about his customers to be alert to such a danger.
Howard allowed our library to start in his pharmacy's back room. From there our library grew to the beautiful building we have today and he was an integral part and supporter of the planning for it.
It was always a joy to go to the pharmacy. The old fashioned soda fountain, gifts, and of course, Howard's dry sense of humor made every visit enjoyable. You could send your kids to pick up things you needed and Howard would put it "on your tab" for you to pay at the end of the month. He liked kids and was always kind to them and friendly with everyone. It was a sad day when his pharmacy closed just like it is sad to see Scott's closing now. Small town life is wonderful and I am glad to be a part of it.
Thank you, Howard for your wonderful contributions to our community.

What a wonderful man Howard was. I have so many great memories as a kid going to the pharmacy. He would let us run a tab and my dad would come pay at the end of the week. He also would open up in the middle of the night if my parents needed something for one of us. He was a wonderful asset to the community. I will always cherish my memories of him and the pharmacy.

Dean was a special friend to our family, and especially to my brother Duane. When I played my sax for my brother's wedding 60 years ago, Dean's mother accompanied me on the piano. Great family!
